WARNING – THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS SPOILERS.
This is part two of my rankings for all 23 MCU films. In part one I ranked the bottom nine films, from 23rd to 15th. In this second part, I’m going to do the next set of rankings from 14th to 6th. If you missed part one, then click on the link below:

These ranking are my own opinion and based on my own preferences. Without any further ado, lets get started.
14. Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Now we start getting into pure epicness. The soundtrack and visuals are iconic. The best part of this film for me though, is the connection between Yondu and Rocket. Between the two of them they prize buried emotions in each others personality. Yondu ends up saving Peters life, showing there is a hero in him after all, and Rocket shows real sadness during Yondu’s funeral. The first time we see this from Rocket.
“I’m Mary Poppins y’all” is one of my favourite lines in the whole franchise so far. Finding out Ego killed Quills mother was a big twist. I really liked Mantis joining the Guardians and having Nebula and Gamora reconciling their relationship was really nice. James Gunn really does a good job in digging deep in the personalities and relationships between these characters. I look forward to the third instalment to the Guardians of the Galaxy.
13. Doctor Strange
I wanted Benedict Cumberbatch to play Dr. Strange even before he was officially cast as the character. He does a superb job playing Stephen Strange and is one of the main reasons why this film ranks as high as it does. The VFX is another reason. The visuals are incredible, some of the best in the MCU. For example buildings waving, turning upside down, the looks of the spells being cast, the detail and imagination is sublime. As for the storyline, it’s a good origin story, however, probably not the best. Dr. Strange has a good story arc. I really look forward to seeing what else Dr. Strange is capable of in the future, especially after what we saw him do in Infinity War.
12. Captain America: The First Avenger
The First Avenger is the origin story of Steve Rogers, who soon becomes Captain America. The technology used to create smaller, thinner Steve is incredible and was well performed by Chris Evans. The relationship between Steve and Peggy is one of the key themes, along with Steve’s ambition to be give his service to help in the war.
Cap is my favourite character in the MCU and this film does well to lay the foundations of what is to come for Steve. This part of his story helps guide his decision making throughout the MCU. This is also the first proper time we see an ‘Infinity Stone’, albeit we don’t know this at the time. Further laying foundations to the story of the Infinity Saga.
I wish Red Skull was a better, more powerful and influential villain. However, the charm of the film, the its story telling and relationship building is why it’s ranked so high.
11. Spider-Man: Homecoming
The first solo Spider-Man in the MCU. This was a very different take on any of the Spider-Man content we had see in the past. This Peter Parker was younger and the suit gives much more of a technological edge to other Spidermen films. Spider-Man Homecoming also gave us a first look at the villainous Vulture. Michael Keaton was another inspired casting decision for the role. The traffic light scene, with Adrian Toomes (Vulture) interrogating Peter Parker after realising Peter was Spider-Man is a standout scene.
The connection between Peter and Tony Stark was another highlight and it would continue to grow and have an influence on other films later in the MCU. The film is on a smaller scale than other films in the MCU, however I think this could be by design as the story focuses on Peter coming of age. I like the thought of what this film may set up in the future. A potential Sinister Six vs Spider-Man film sounds good.
10. Ant-Man
Kicking off the Top 10. I love this film! Both this and its sequel are the comedies of the MCU. Michael Pena is the stand out for me, he seriously cracks me up. The visuals of the suit shrinking and enlarging, brings something new to the franchise and this was used really well in fight sequences between Ant-Man and Yellowjacket at the end of the film. The post credit scene, involving Wasps suit and teasing the fact that she will have a larger role in the sequel was awesome. I don’t think Yellowjacket is a great villain and this is the main reason why it didn’t rank above Ant Man and the Wasp.
9. Ant-Man and the Wasp
Ant Man and the Wasp takes place after the events of Civil War with Scott now under house arrest. Hope and Hank are on a mission to try and save Janet (Hope’s mother and Hanks wife) from the Quantum Realm. They kidnap Scott to help them, as he has been having dreams showing Janets memories. However their mission is halted by Ava Starr aka Ghost. Ghost is a better villain than Yellowjacket in my opinion. She had a better back story and motivation for what she does. The team-up of Ant Man and Janet as Wasp was great and provided us with some great action scenes. Wasp’s action scenes were definitely the highlight of the film, it’s just a shame they were mostly spoiled in the trailers. Luis (Michael Pena) is again, just as hilarious as the first film, “Waazzzzuppppp”.
8. Thor: Ragnarok
What a turn around this was from the first two Thor films. Taika Waititi really put his own style into the film and this time it suited the characters down…to… the… ground. Chris Hemsworth nails his new comedic side to Thor. This film changed so much for Thor and did so much for MCU. Thor has his hammer destroyed by Hela, who is one of best villains in MCU in my view. The God of Thunder has to learn to control lighting without his hammer, and he does so in great style. The final battle was insane! The cinematography, music and style to the scene is one of the most iconic in the franchise. The supporting characters, Loki, Hulk and Valkyrie are superb. Great film and it definitely deserves a fourth instalment, therefore being the first Marvel character to get a fourth solo film.
What do you think of the rankings so far, agree or disagree? Have your say in the comments below. That is it for part 2 of my Marvel movie rankings. Stay tuned for part 3.
